Packaging Queensland Open Home 2024

Packaging Queensland, our five-star green-rated box manufacturing plant in Yatala, held its inaugural Open Home event on 8 August, bringing together over 50 metro key customers and industry experts for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour. The event provided a platform to showcase our operational excellence, cutting-edge innovations, and sustainability initiatives, in collaboration with the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO).

The event marked a significant milestone, with last year’s installation of the EVOL100 flexo folder gluer completing the final stage of the full plant fitout (planned for when the facility was purpose-built in 2018).

With the EVOL100 now fully integrated, production output has significantly increased, with the machine capable of producing over 300 cartons per minute – making it one of the most efficient machines in the industry. This enables us to deliver faster turnarounds and enhances our ability to meet increasing demand, while maintaining our commitment to sustainable packaging solutions for our customers in the region.

Event presentations included insights into the Northern Queensland’s Horticultural market, highlighting emerging trends and the strategic initiatives OjiFS is undertaking to capitalise on these opportunities - in addition to our steadfast commitment to innovation, sustainability and customer satisfaction.

We were proud to reiterate our company’s core values and share how OjiFS fosters a safe and inclusive workplace environment that empowers employees to innovate and excel – to make a difference every day. Cardboard pallets and tree guards were show cased as an example of how our innovative people are leveraging the latest technology to deliver fit-for-purpose packaging solutions tailored to each brand and market.

We were privileged to have Professor Pierre Pienaar, Education Director of the Australian Institute of Packaging and Immediate Past President of the World Packaging Organisation, attend our event this year. Prof. Pienaar provided valuable updates on global and local sustainability trends and emphasised the critical role that packaging innovations play in reducing environmental impact.

The event concluded with a guided tour of the facility, where customers were able to see the super-fast EVOL100 in action and experience firsthand how advanced technologies, such as robotics and automation throughout the facility, drive our efficient and sustainable operations.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all our metro customers and industry guests who took the time to join us on the day, and for their continued support. We look forward to forging stronger partnerships and continuing to create innovative and sustainable packaging solutions together.
